A Jubilee of Hope

Jan. e-news 2025

The Catholic Cemeteries staff wishes you a blessed new year. As we return to Ordinary Time, we can rest assured that God remains with us. The Church invites us into deeper prayer and relationship with Jesus Christ and each other through this special Jubilee Year of 2025. Here in the Archdiocese of St. Louis and throughout the world, Catholics are encouraged to embrace special opportunities for pilgrimage, reconciliation, prayer for the living and the dead, and more, as part of this centuries-old tradition. Pope Francis has asked the faithful to pray together this beautiful prayer:

Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen

We invite you to visit our sacred grounds during this Jubilee Year of Hope and pray for those with whom "we await the blessed hope, the appearance of the glory of the great God and of our savior Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:13).
